**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | Training Officer
The Operations Division ensures the continued and improved effectiveness of operational processes and transactions for
customers and service users of the NHVR. The division is accountable for operational safety and compliance functions
across the NHVR.**
**Primary Objectives**
Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs that provide the NHVR with a highly skilled workforce with a high
degree of regulatory capability.
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- Contribute to and monitor national heavy vehicle training best practice to ensure operations employees meet the
objectives of the NHVR.
- Deliver training programs ensuring alignment with specific organisational and individual learning requirements.
- Enhance technical performance and improve the capability of Authorised Officers under the Heavy Vehicle National
Law (HVNL) via formalised training needs analysis, delivering innovative education and training workshops,
conducting assessments, providing feedback and undertaking coaching.
- Maintain knowledge in areas relevant to the functions of the Operations Division employees, including emerging
technology used in road transport which may impact the day-to-day running of the Operations Division, and identify
methodologies that support learning and development initiatives in these emerging areas.
- Provide ongoing support and advice to the NHVR Operations employees on training related matters.
- Build and maintain professional networks and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
**Skills and Capabilities**
- Experience in delivering training programs across a broad range of technical matters in a customer orientated
manner, to ensure continual improvement of both training materials and outcomes.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member who engages in behaviours that reflect the NHVR’s
values.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information in a clear logical manner,
which is clear, concise and correct.
- Ability to communicate, negotiate and consult with a wide range of stakeholders and employees with regards to on
- road compliance training issues, acceptable standard and processes.**Qualifications and Experience**

- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- A driver’s licence.
- PSP40416 - Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
