**ROLE**:Flight Operations Specialist
**LOCATION**:Technopark, Stellenbosch
**REPORTING TO**:Team Leader: Flights Support
**SALARY**:R19 900.00 pm, Night Shift Allowance, Medical Aid, and 13th Cheque
JOB PURPOSE
- To provide a friendly and efficient service to external and internal customers, thus helping to drive sales, hit budgets and deliver profits.
KEY OBJECTIVES
- To service all enquiries & bookings to company standards
- To adhere to all airline deadlines and terms and conditions
- To understand agents/ operators flight needs and advise on appropriate solutions
- To work with the Team Leader and Marketing department to drive growth in ticket sales
- To understand the different airline routes to be able to advise the best option
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- These include, but are not limited to_**:
- Carry out the above in line with set company service level standards in a friendly & professional manner
- Use a GDS (Amadeus) to:
- Check availability
- Price flight itineraries (manual & CAT35) - Make bookings
- Reserve seating
- Issue tickets
- Amend/ refund booking
- Read booking ‘queues’
- Use industry knowledge and initiative to choose best airlines to approach to meet client’s requirements
- Make sound commercial decisions on margins & pricing on a booking by booking basis
- Work on own initiative without constant supervision
- Update all transactions accurately into the database
- Keep on top of all airline deadlines for deposits, balance payments, names & ticketing
- Ensure payments are received from clients in good time to meet deadlines
- Develop a good understanding of the market and competition
- Follow up quotes
- Form close ties with staff within airline partners to strengthen relationships

- Keep accurate records and filing systems both computer and hard copy resources
- Maintain high levels of accuracy
- Keep product knowledge & operational skills up to date
- Undertake appropriate training as required
- Work in a positive, proactive and determined manner
