**_ Position Purpose:_**

provide functional, strategic and tactical support to the Group Chief Business Development Officer in fulfilling the role of

leading business development and diversification, stakeholder management, tourism & hospitality, preservation of heritage

assets and transformation.

To champion value creation for Business Development to drive timely decision-making with mitigating risks and exposures.

Oversight of strategic deliverables by business development functions to the CBDO, including but not limited to the Corporate

Plan, Integrated Reporting, quarterly and interim reporting.

Drives the alignment with the various functions within Group Business Development, Operating Divisions and Group

Executive using a business development lens to maximise value creation, achieve business strategy and communicate

progress and stakeholders management.

To direct and lead Business Enablement, Government, Business & Stakeholder Relations and Intra Africa Relations

functions.

Lead the rest of the business functions within Group Business Development.

**_ Position outputs:_**

Business enablement
- Analyse the Business Plans to determine applicable deliverables for the Business Unit.
- Coordinate all CBDO submissions to governance and compliance structures.
- Research customer focused service offerings across the value chain.
- Enhance quality of internal and external management reporting and communication.
- Advocate for a total view of the customer and improved stakeholder engagements.
- Support Business Development projects to improve business performance.
- Ensure communication on business development topics.
- Maintain familiarity with global logistics trends to retain strategic awareness.

Performance Management
- Utilise existing periodic reporting frameworks to monitor business performance.
- Enhance metric and performance indicators for the Business Unit.
- Manage Human Resources for the Business Unit in accordance with policies.
- Identify opportunities and performance gaps and alert the CBDO.
- Benchmark best practice in business development and recommend improvement.
- Ensure reporting on mitigation actions in audit findings for the CBDO functions.

Finance and Administration
- Champion the department’s budgeting processes and ensure financial controls within all cost centres.
- Lead and manage budget spend with in the business unit.
- Budget management in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Produce reports on YTD budget spend.
- Highlight and manage PFMA violations for consequence management.
- Cascade the CBDO scorecard and the DOA.
- Maintain high standards of corporate governance and ethical behaviour.
- Manage service providers where required to ensure that deliverables are met.

Transformation
- Co-ordinate the B-BBEE champions across the organisation.
- Drive the group wide transformation strategy.
- Enable transnet to retain the B-BBEE rating level.
- Ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
- Keep abreast of policy changes.

Governance and Compliance
- Implement a legal and regulatory framework within business development.
- Manage the risk portfolio within business development.
- Provide advice on local and regional laws for new business initiatives..
- Minimise and mitigate legal and reputational risks in business offerings.
- Ensure closure on mitigation actions for audit findings.

Functional Leadership
- Ensure the CBDO Team delivers on agreed standards of functional and cross functional teamwork aligned to one Transnet

way of working.
- Oversee the Managers and Senior Specialists.
- Manage the talent pipeline within the Business Unit.

- B-degree in Commerce, Economics, Law- Minimum 10 years’ experience in complex operations and commercial environment, of which at least 5 to 7 years at Senior
