**Key responsibilities include the following**:
**Accounts Receivable (Debtors)**
- Understanding and managing the full Accounts Receivable function (Debtors);
- Ensuring that the full Accounts Receivable function is understood and is correctly and accurately applied by all departmental personnel;
- Providing assistance and training or arranging for assistance/training to be given on the University’s finance systems and approved, associated systems;
**Accounts Payable (Creditors)**
- Understanding and managing the full Accounts Payable function (Creditors);
- Ensuring that the full Accounts Payable function is understood and is correctly and accurately applied by all departmental personnel;
- Providing assistance and training or arranging for assistance/training to be given on the University’s finance systems and approved, associated systems;
- Downloading and/or accessing the applicable system reports and reconciliation records;
- Disseminating and informing departmental personnel on the applicable chart of accounts and the utilisation thereof;
- Assisting the Snr Finance Officer and Finance Manager in the creation of documents used for generating, updating, and storing of data for reconciliation and statistical purposes;
**General Ledger**
- Understanding and administering the full Management Accounting function (GAAP, IFRS, 4th Schedule, King IV, etc.);
- Assist the Snr Finance Officer and Finance Manager in terms of proper financial governance;
- Ensuring that the Management Accounting function is understood and is correctly and accurately applied by all departmental personnel;
- Providing assistance and training or arranging for assistance/training to be given on the University’s finance systems and approved, associated systems;

**Requirements**:

- Matric
- National Diploma in Accounting or any related qualification
- Three to five years of work related experience
- Project and / or grant accounting management and reporting will be advantageous
- Previous experience in contract compliance review will be advantageous
- High level of computer literacy (MS Office suite essential)
- Knowledge of the University systems (Oracle, GL Wand etc.) would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work in an environment that is deadline driven, and demands accuracy and consistency
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and must be able to lead and supervise junior administrative staff
- Self motivated, reliable and have the ability to multi-task;
