The university seeks to appoint a skilled, resourceful and dynamic individual to assist the Executive Director: Finance & Services to strategically manage third stream income, advise and facilitate engagements with stakeholders. The position requires knowledge in, amongst others, general business, start-ups, property and corporate finance.

Reporting to the Executive Director: Finance & Services, the post assumes responsibility for, inter alia:

- Plan, direct and manage business development activities. This includes, amongst others, business plan compilations and reviews, donor funded projects, return on investment reviews, business and property acquisition opportunity evaluations.
- Ensure the effective achievement of the business development functional objectives, through the leadership of the division, by setting clear objectives in order to maximise individual, divisional and departmental performance (organisational culture, values and reputation aligned to the UWC Institutional Operating Plan) whilst ensuring good governance and internal controls.
- Support the Executive Management in management and corporate decision-making to ensure UWC maximises its short, medium and long-term profitability through business innovation and incubation with sound feasibility studies.
- Provide support on Intellectual Property commercialisation opportunities in collaboration with the University’s technology transfer office.
- Develop, review, implement and report on the Business Innovation Centre's strategy, ensuring that strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the various departments and faculties.
- Develop and lead the Business Innovation Centre in sourcing, managing and implementing new business opportunities for the benefit of the whole of UWC.
- Liaise with Executive Management and Deans on the implementation of UWC's strategic and operational plans.
- Review and implement effective feasibility, coordination and quality monitoring activities.
- Ensure that strategic and tactical management decisions and new business development initiatives of all departments positively impact the profitability of the University.
- Interface with Institutional Advancement to ensure efficient and effective marketing, advertising and promotional planning of the Business Innovation Centre’s initiatives.
- Design and implement a policy that enables and enhances innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Project budget management and reporting.
- Develop and implement business processes that supports the objectives of the Business Innovation Centre and the University as a whole.
- Engage responsible lines for venue management, timetabling and events.
- Manage and grow third stream income opportunities related to, amongst others, student accommodation, management consulting, advertising and marketing opportunities.
- Ensure all accounting and reporting functions are performed in terms of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Provide staff training and development.

**Minimum Requirements**
- A CA(SA), BCom Honours, MBA qualification or equivalent
- 5 years’ managerial experience in Business management development, with at least 3 years in a senior capacity
- Demonstrable proficiency in MS Office packages
- Valid driver’s license
- Proven track record of leadership in the delivery of large-scale projects
- Demonstrable business networking and relationship building skills-
