Duties/Pligte
- Presenting isiXhosa language proficiency modules and short courses offered by the Language Centre to students, staff members and members of the public through face-to-face and blended modes of delivery;
- Assisting with the development and review of syllabi, course material and assessments informed by innovative and appropriate teaching techniques (including blended learning materials) which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students;
- Performing administrative tasks relating to isiXhosa language proficiency modules and short courses;
- Assisting with training and mentoring isiXhosa language tutors;
- Assisting with the translation of academic and institutional texts from English into isiXhosa;
- Assisting with quality assurance (editing/proof-reading/revision) of existing isiXhosa academic and institutional translations;
- Translating and developing isiXhosa terminology for academic and institutional purposes;
- Ensuring the quality of existing isiXhosa academic and institutional terminology;
- Assisting with context-specific research to inform best practice in the field of second-language teaching and/or terminology development;
- Participating in the Language Centre's multilingual mindset working group and isiXhosa working group.

- Hulpverlening met die ontwikkeling en hersiening van sillabusse, kursusmateriaal en assesserings onderlê deur innoverende en toepaslike onderrigtegnieke (waaronder gemengde leermateriaal), wat belangstelling wek en begrip en geesdrif onder studente aanwakker;
- Uitvoer van administratiewe take ten opsigte van die isiXhosa-taalvaardigheidsmodules en -kortkursusse;
- Hulpverlening met die opleiding en mentorskap van die isiXhosa-tutors;
- Hulpverlening met die vertaling van akademiese en institusionele tekste uit Engels in isiXhosa;
- Hulpverlening met die gehalteversekering (redigering/proeflees/hersiening) van bestaande akademiese en institusionele vertalings in isiXhosa;
- Vertaal en ontwikkel isiXhosa-terminologie vir akademiese en institusionele doeleindes;
- Verseker die gehalte van bestaande akademiese en institusionele terminologie in isiXhosa;
- Hulpverlening met konteksspesifieke navorsing om die beste praktyk op die gebied van die onderrig van 'n tweede taal en/of die ontwikkeling van terminologie te onderlê;
- Deelname aan die Taalsentrum se taakgroep vir veeltaligheidsingesteldheid en die isiXhosa-taakgroep.
- Ukufundisa iimodyuli zobuchule bolwimi lwesiXhosa kunye neekhosi ezimfutshane ezinikezelwa liZiko leeLwimi kubafundi, kubasebenzi nakuluntu ngokubanzingokujongana ubuso ngobuso kunye neendlela ezixutyiweyo zokufundisa;
- Ukuncedisa ukuphuhlisa kunye nokuhlaziya isilabhasi, imathiriyeli yekhosi kunye neemvavanyo ezinolwazi ngeendlela ezintsha nezifanelekileyo zokufundisa (kubandakanya imathiriyeli yokufunda okuxutyiweyo) okudala umdla, ukuqonda kunye nolangazelelo kubafundi;
- Ukwenza imisebenzi yolawulo ebhekisele kwiimodyuli zobuchule bolwimi lwesiXhosa kunye neekhosi ezimfutshane;
- Ukuncedisa ngoqeqesho kunye nokucebisa abancedisi bolwimi lwesiXhosa abasebenza kwiZiko leeLwimi;
- Ukuncedisa ukuguqula iimbalo zezifundo nezeziko ukusuka kwisiNgesi ukuya kwisiXhosa;
- Ukuncedisa ngokuqinisekisa umgangatho (ukuhlela/ukuvavanya okubhaliweyo/uhlaziyo) uguqulelo lweembalo zezifundo zesiXhosa ezikhoyo kweli ziko;
- Ukuguqula nokuphuhlisa isigama sesiXhosa ngeenjongo yezifundo kunye nezeziko;
- Ukuqinisekisa umgangatho wesigama esikhoyo sesiXhosa esezifundo kunye neseziko;
- Ukuncedisa kuphando olungqamene nemixholo yokwazisa ezona ndlela zingcono zokufundisa ulwimi lwesibini kunye/okanye uphuhliso lwesigama;
- Ukuthatha inkxaxheba kwiqela lesiXhosa elisebenza ngokwembono yeeLwimi ezininzi kwiZiko leeLwimi.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- A relevant honours degree or similar relevant qualification focused on isiXhosa;
- At least one year's isiXhosa language teaching experience in the higher education environment
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment protocols;
- Commitment to high quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students;
- Experience in translation from English to isiXhosa;
- Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to work in a complex academic environment;
- A proven ability to manage time and work according to strict deadlines;
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams);
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in isiXhosa;
- Very good understanding of spoken and written English.
