Duties/Pligte
- Coordinating and teaching isiXhosa language proficiency modules and short courses;
- Developing and reviewing syllabi, course material and assessments informed by innovative and appropriate learning and teaching approaches (including blended learning), which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst course participants;
- Liaisinig with faculties regarding isiXhosa modules and short courses;
- Managing administration regarding relevant modules and short courses;
- Training and mentoring facilitators in isiXhosa working within the Language Centre;
- Translating institutional texts (English into isiXhosa) as requested;
- Ensuring the quality of translated isiXhosa institutional texts as requested;
- Developing isiXhosa terminology for academic and institutional purposes;
- Translating English terminology into isiXhosa for academic and institutional purposes;
- Ensuring the quality of the existing isiXhosa academic and institutional terminology;
- Performing context-specific research to inform best practice in the field(s) of second-language learning and/or terminology development.
- Koördineer en bied taalvaardigheidsmodules en -kortkursusse in Xhosa aan;
- Ontwikkel en hersien kursusmateriaal en assesseringsmetodes wat deur vernuwende en toepaslike leer-en-onderrigbenaderings (waaronder vermengde leer) bepaal en gerig word, en wat belangstelling, begrip en entoesiasme by kursusdeelnemers skep;
- Skakel met fakulteite oor Xhosa-modules en -kortkursusse;
- Bestuur alle administrasie in verband met die betrokke modules en kortkursusse;
- Verskaf opleiding en mentorskap aan Xhosafasiliteerders wat by die Taalsentrum werk;
- Vertaal institusionele tekste (Engels in Xhosa) soos versoek;
- Doen gehalteversekering rakende vertaalde Xhosa
- institusionele tekste soos versoek;
- Ontwikkel Xhosa-terminologie vir akademiese en institusionele doeleindes;
- Vertaal Engelse terminologie in Xhosa vir akademiese en institusionele doeleindes;
- Doen gehalteversekering rakende bestaande Xhosa
- akademiese en institusionele terminologie;
- Onderneem konteksspesifieke navorsing om beste praktyk op die gebied(e) van tweedetaalleer en/of terminologie-ontwikkeling te bepaal en te rig.
- Ukuququzelela nokufundisa iimodyuli neekhosi ezimfutshane zesiXhosa;
- Ukuncedisa kuphuhliso nakuphononongo lwesilabhasi, izixhobo zokufunda nezovavanyo ngokukhuthazwa bubuchule nesakhono sokufundisa (esibandakanya izixhobo zokufundisa ngobuxhakaxhaka nokuma phambi kwabafundi) nezenza umdla, intshisakalo nokuqonda kubathathi nxaxheba bekhosi;
- Unxibelelane neefakhalthi ngokunxulumene neemodyuli zesiXhosa kunye neekhosi ezimfutshane;
- Ukuncedisa kuqeqesho nakwiingcebiso zabancedisi besiXhosa abasebenza kwiZiko leeLwimi;
- Ukuphuhlisa isigama sesiXhosa ukulungiselela izifundo;
- Ukuguqulela imibhalo yeziko (ukususa esiNgesini ukusa esiXhoseni) njengoko kuceliwe;
- Ukuqinisekisa ngomgangatho ofanelekileyo wemibhalo eguqulelwe esiXhoseni, njengoko kuceliwe;
- Ukuqulunqa isigama sesiXhosa esilungiselelwe ezemfundo nezeziko;
- Ukuguqulela isigama sesiNgesi esiXhoseni ukulungiselela ezemfundo nezeziko;
- Ukuqinisekisa umgangatho wesigama esele sikhona sesiXhosa ukulungiselela ezemfundo nezeziko;
- Ukwenza uphando olunxulumene nokusetyenziswa kolwimi lwesibini lokufunda/ okanye uphuhlise isigama.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- An appropriate master's degree in second-language acquisition or another, related field;
- At least three years' teaching experience in the higher education environment, specifically in second-language acquisition;
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment protocols;
- Experience in the translation of terminology from English into isiXhosa;
- Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to work in a complex academic environment;
- The ability to manage time efficiently and work according to strict deadlines;
- Evidence of teaching ability and of fostering a positive learning environment for students;
- Computer literacy in MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams);
- Excellent interpersonal, spoken and written communication skills in isiXhosa;
- Excellent understanding of spoken and written English.
- 'n Toepaslike magistergraad in tweedetaalverwerwing of op 'n ander, verwante terrein;
- Minstens drie jaar onderrigervaring in die hoëronderwysomgewing, spesifiek op die gebied van tweedetaalverwerwing;
- Ervaring in kurrikulumontwikkeling en assesseringsprotokolle;
- Ervaring in die vertaling van terminologie uit Engels in Xhosa;
- Gevorderde organisatoriese vaardighede en die vermoë om in 'n komplekse akademiese omgewing te werk;
- Die vermoë om tyd doeltreffend te bestuur en by vaste spertye te hou;
- 'n Bewese vermoë om klas te gee en 'n positiewe leeromgewing vir studente te skep;
- Rekenaargeletterdheid in MS Office (bv. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook en Teams);
- Uitmuntende interpersoonlike, praat
