Our Platinum business mines, processes and refines the entire range of platinum group metals (PGMs): platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium and iridium together with gold and the base metals (BMs): nickel, copper and cobalt.
**Job Description**:
- You will initiate ER interventions such as training, trend analysis, and orientation to ensure legal compliance and effectiveness of processes.
**You will also be responsible for:
**Expert advice and Compliance**
- Constantly review developments in the ER field to ensure effectiveness and alignment of knowledge in ER team.
- Ensure that procedures are compliant with legislation.
- Advice management on the most appropriate cause of action when decision relates to function.
- Provide advice and interpretation to any stakeholder in so far as the function utilization and integration with other HR functions is concerned.
- Provide regular information to all stakeholders regarding use and trends specific to the function
- Regularly conduct f ER audits to ensure effectiveness and compliance
- Conduct required meetings
- Hold and attend disciplinary and grievance inquiries
- Identify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications
- Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding Industrial Relations
- Ensure cultural diversity is managed.
**Good employee relations**
- Effective two-way open communication with employees
- Develop a trusting and mutual respect relationship with internal and external service suppliers
- Support the training and development requirements of ER Team
- Ensure that employees have clear work expectations and plans
- Communicate effectively with teams
- Support the induction of new employees
- Identify ideas to increase motivation and competencies
- Ensure that work is fairly allocated
- Advise employees on career opportunities and the requirements to achieve personal growth
- Provision of accurate ER related information.
- Support projects for the implementation of applicable Safety, Regulations, The Act, Codes of practice and standards
- Ensure employee records are accurate
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers
- Negotiation of contracts relevant to role
- Ensure that ER systems used, and procedures are competitive, legal, integrated with other Anglo Platinum systems and understood by employees
- Ensure the preservation of departmental records and statistics
**This role is in the Human Resources department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Human Resources Manager**
**Qualifications
- NQF 7 Bachelor’s Degree or BTech/Advanced Diploma in Human Resource management, Social Science, Industrial Psychology or Employee relations
- At least 5 years’ experience with strong Employee Relations within mining or heavy industry environment and good HR generalist experience.
**Knowledge and Skills**
- Must have experience with relationship building and litigation
- Labour Courts and commissions (experience with case preparation and compiling relevant reports)
- Unions and Associations (experience with negotiations)
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Valid driver’s license and own transport
- Presenting to and engaging with senior management and external stakeholders: People conduct is of importance
- Strong creative thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and deliver high quality product within a tight deadline
