URBAN MOBILITY Principal Professional Officer - Structures

Requirements:

  • A relevant B degree in Civil Engineering (Structures)
  • A minimum of eight (8) years' appropriate postqualification
experience in structural analysis and design of road bridges,

including at least three (3) years' managerial experience.

  • Professional registration with ECSA
  • Certification as an accredited bridge/culvert Inspector will be
advantageous and preferred.

  • A Code B driver's licence, with own reliable transport
  • Willingness to work after hours and assume control of emergency or
disaster situations.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide an effective strategic, capital and operational
management function.

  • Oversee the assignment of work activities; projects and
programmes to appropriate staff members.

  • Project manage complex projects and consultants
  • Structural analysis utilising computer software
  • Preparation and supervision of designs, specifications, plans,
estimates and reports for proposed and or maintenance of existing

structural projects.

  • Preparation of tender documents, tender adjudications and tender
reports.

  • Project management of strategic bridges, pedestrian bridges,
gantries, retaining walls, slope stabilisation etc.

  • Review development plans
  • Perform and supervise engineering computations to analyse
structural members and assemblies for structural integrity and

compliance with applicable construction codes.

  • Manage systems and processes to standardise project design and
implementation.
