Requirements:

  • BSc degree in Electrical Engineering or BTech degree in Electrical
Engineering

  • Registered Professional Engineer or eligible for registration, or
Registered Professional Engineering Technologist or eligible for

registration

  • Minimum of eight (8) years' postgraduate managerial and
technical

experience with extensive exposure to the development of

electricity

distribution infrastructure

  • Extensive knowledge of power system engineering and related
disciplines especially load forecasting

  • Excellent technical and staff management skills
  • Proficiency in compiling and managing capital budgets
  • Sound knowledge of safety legislation and practice
  • User knowledge of power system engineering and geographical
information system software will be preferred

  • Code B driver's licence.
Key Performance Areas

  • Manage the longterm planning unit in the Energy Directorate
including planning, organising, directing, and controlling all

technical

and non-technical functions, processes, and systems of the Unit

  • Participating in various transversal, City spatial development or built
environment working groups (internal and external) and providing

comments and opinions on matters affecting the long-term

years) development of the electrical network.

  • Longterm electrical load forecasting such as utilising, verifying and
monitoring specialised computer modelling and calculations

performed to develop and maintain long-term load forecasting

models

  • Electrical network development and longterm planning including
evaluating, assessing, and approving a strategic long-term plan for

the establishment of new networks, the extension of existing

networks, and the replacement of redundant networks.
