Key Responsibilities:

Position available worldwide in countries where WVI is registered.

The Global Advisor 'Development and Capacity' (DevCap) plays a crucial role in implementing and delivering strategies for Security Safety, and Resilience (SSR) learning, capacity building, and professional development. This position works closely with the Director DevCap to ensure continuous learning needs assessments, innovative learning design, effective delivery methods, and impact evaluations. A major focus is on providing security and safety training to all staff and leaders to equip them for operating in fragile and insecure environments.

This role is part of the 'Development and Capacity' team within the broader SSR group. The Global Advisor is responsible for delivering targeted training programs for staff operating in medium and high-risk environments, working closely with interdisciplinary 'Integrated Security Teams' (IST's).

Safety & Security Training Development and Delivery

  • Identify training needs and key learning outcomes for operations in high-risk environments in collaboration with the Security Group.
  • Develop a blended security training program incorporating face-to-face, e-learning & m-learning solutions to prepare staff for dynamic operational environments.
  • Integrate training expertise into the Regional 'Integrated Security Teams' to mitigate security risks and support operational security management.

SSR Functional Training Development

  • Collaborate with Regional leads to design innovative learning strategies and training solutions.
  • Design and deliver training solutions as needed.
  • Support the development of context-specific learning solutions for Regional and Field Offices to enhance local capacities in key functional areas.

SSR Capacity Development

  • Contribute to coaching and mentoring programs for Regional SSR staff.
  • Identify talent within Regional IST and assist in career development pathways.
  • Design 'learning journeys' for SSR staff to identify skills gaps and career aspirations, and provide opportunities for upskilling and reskilling.

Regional/Security Group Operation Support

  • Provide operational support to Regional IST and/or Security Group as needed.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields or equivalent industry experience.
  • Specialized education in areas like Education, Training, Human Resources, Security Management, International Studies, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of international experience in a global organization, preferably in an INGO context.
  • Experience in developing learning strategies and instructional design, especially in humanitarian or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of learning and development practices within the humanitarian sector.
  • Proficiency in instructional design, coaching, facilitation, and training.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, additional languages like French or Spanish are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 33% of the time, including high-risk locations, with short notice.
