The Role


To recruit, motivate and train the New Business team to ensure a high-level performance where people are recognised for extraordinary effort and rewarded with a longer-term structure.


Ensure the retention of the client base, relationships, sustainable commercial agreements, and growth with CourierIT across all products and services.


  • Lead the new business sales team to ensure that new business targets are met.
  • Contribute to the development of appropriate pricing strategies through market intelligence and client profitability analysis.
  • Continuously evaluate market demand and contribute to ensuring service offerings are evolved to meet demand in a profitable manner.
  • Ensure that the sales and divisional sales structure is developed, resourced, supported, and optimised to achieve the sales targets set and to execute against the strategy and divisional requirements in collaboration with Sales and Marketing Executive
  • Build sales team capabilities to understand market demands and to make recommendations to evolve service offering to meet demand.
  • Contribute to and execute appropriate marketing initiatives within the division.
  • Ensure active engagement and direct support with new clients by sales.
  • Provide key insights to support the RTT business review process and take corrective actions to ensure the successful achievement of targets.
  • Ensure active communications within sales teams and drive a high performing, service orientated and collaborative culture in the Road division, between divisions, and support functions
  • Develop a highly skilled and engaged workforce within the functional area through the effective selection, onboarding, development, and management of talent
  • Manage all external communications in collaboration with internal communications lead.
  • Manage Relationships with Clients, Regions and relevant Business Units
  • Strategically manage relations with clients, regions, and relevant business units
  • Establish and ensure maintenance of sound relationships with new clients.
  • Manage relationships in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Ensure and enable clear and open communication.
  • Provide and guide regions and relevant business units in terms of business objectives and marketing strategy.
  • Manage Expense Targets
  • Prepare and manage sales budgets.
  • Approve budgetary expenditures within authorisation limits or delegations.
  • Review and report on financial performance
  • Ensure costs are maintained.
  • Human Resource Management
  • Set performance objectives for employees.
  • Ensure that all employees have signed performance agreements.
  • Put together action plans to address poor performance.
  • Identify training needs of all employees.
  • Ensure ongoing training and development of all employees.
  • Ensure career paths & succession plans are in place.
  • IT Enablement o Understand & develop a deep understanding of interface/integration solutions with clients and end users.
  • Collaborate internally & externally to ensure best of class access to technology (particularly last mile) to gain operational and strategic advantage.
  • Proactively engage, promote and drive the use of technology to improve operational and financial efficiency.

  • 57 years management experience at a Manco level within sales and servicing (essential)
  • B degree at NQF level 7 or equivalent in commerce or similar field (desirable)
