Job Purpose - To act in a centre of excellence role and ensure the implementation of fair and equitable employee relations practices within Nedbank in compliance with relevant legislation
Responsibilities:
- Provide input into Employee Relations strategies to deliver organisational goals and meet business needs.
- Maintain and enhance Group Employee Relations as a Centre of Excellence on all employee relations matters.
- Ensure that Nedbank is competently and professionally represented in all disputes at the CCMA and the Labour Court by ensuring timeous and thorough preparation and execution of all dispute resolution responsibilities.
- Instruct external attorneys and supervise employment law matters handled by them.
- Ensure that management of disputes, litigation and settlements safeguard Nedbank's reputational and commercial interests.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of an electronic case management tool in respect of discipline, disputes, grievance and incapacity.
- Develop trusting professional and collaborative relationships with business stakeholders by providing technically astute and fit for purpose employment law support and advice.
- Advise and support business stakeholders on all aspects related to restructuring processes and procedures to comply with policy and legislative frameworks.
- Keep abreast of legislative and case law developments in the field of employment law and ensure that this is reflected in the all employee relations policies, the management of disputes and the provision of uptodate advice to the stakeholders.
- Identify employee relations risks and recommend and implement initiatives to mitigate identified risks.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of an of an employee relations reporting framework that will aid diagnostics and analytics in respect of employee relations.
- Assess stakeholder training needs and implement appropriate training and capacitation interventions to ensure stakeholders are adequately capacitated in key ER disciplines.
- Share learnings from CCMA and Labour Court cases with relevant internal stakeholders
- Foster productive, professional and collaborative relationship with recognised trade unions in line with relevant trade union Recognition Agreements.
- Engage with industry bodies to keep abreast with industry best practices.
- Role model humancentred behaviour and values driven, ethical behaviour in Nedbank
People Specification
Essential Qualifications -NQF Level
- Advanced Diploma /National 1st Degree in Labour Law or Labour Relations; or
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- Minimum Experience Level
- Minimum 5 years practical experience in employee relations, preferably in a law firm or in financial services.
