Medical Administrator

Objectives


Fulfill and handle case assistance and the associated administrative requirements and have an extremely high commitment to quality customer care and service.


Possess the willingness and ability to follow a high standard of administrative procedures and the ability to complete cases to the final steps with the necessary customer care and within the cost parameters.


Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Matric
  • Experience of handling invoicing, reconciliations, and general office administration
  • Must have own transport and be prepared to travel locally.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Be prepared to work additional hours and be on standby for 2 weeks per month or as and when required.
  • Knowledge of ICD 10, CPT, and procedure codes
  • Communicating with a clear and wellspoken voice in the English language

  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Afrikaans and able to communicate with patients/ doctors/ specialists/ service providers etc.
  • Excellent written skills in business English and Afrikaans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact as a team member.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office and ability to acquire other skills as necessary.
  • Ability to use own initiative and take responsibility where necessary and to work as part of a team.
  • Smart and businesslike appearance
  • Valid Driver's license and own car
  • 24hour availability when On Call
  • Meticulous, highly competent, highly organised, able to prioritise work appropriately, be very efficient and able to grasp concepts quickly and easily.
  • Planning and coordinating medical appointments, all relevant test and hospital admissions
  • Responding and Organising of all emergency appointments within time frame
  • Creating medical files and filing all patient documents on system
  • Taking and recording of payments from patients if required
  • Keeping a tidy desk
  • Assisting patient's family as required
  • Requesting authorization from the doctor or supplier with patient referrals to other discipline.
  • Gathers patient information by collecting demographic information from a variety of sources, interacting with physicians' offices, and insurance i.e., customer.
  • Initiates the medical record by creating and processing the patient care record folder.
  • Maintains and record all oncology treatment on system.
  • Maintain a proper filing system for all patient's medical records as per legislative requirements.
  • Monitoring all new cases received by relevant insurance company.
  • Monitor all letters of guarantees before mailing them to relevant suppliers.
  • Ensure accurate, specific, and comprehensive clinical coding.
  • Review authorisation aspects approved, mitigating financial risk and final releasing the case for billing.
  • Liaise with a network of internal and external customers and suppliers regarding patient treatment.
  • Outpatient case reports need to be submitted to the relevant insurance and medical aid companies.
  • To request and submit motivation letters to Insurance for authorization.
  • Audit invoices before submitting for final billing.
  • Cost containment on all cases
  • To accompany a patient to an outpatient appointment if needed
  • To assist all other departments when required
  • Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential.
  • Serve and protect the company by adhering to professional standards, company policies and procedures.
  • Enhances medical records and company reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
