Head of Sales: Centurion

Role Purpose:

To effectively manage the sales operational areas in terms of people, resource allocation, budgeting, systems, and processes to ensure achievement of strategic objectives and targets.

Responsibilities and work outputs:

Strategic:

  • Set operational strategy in conjunction with Executive of Sales, Services and Distribution
  • Implement, drive, measure, monitor and achieve strategic objectives and targets
  • Track and monitor the key performance areas of the Sales functions
  • Identify, develop, and execute on best operating practices

Revenue Growth:

  • Increase sales revenue by achieving or surpassing sales targets and quotas
  • Identify new sales opportunities, penetrate existing markets, and expand into new markets

Operational Management:

  • Effective use of Management Information to manage the Sales Operational areas
  • Proactive assessment of future departmental needs
  • Regular on the floor involvement and communication with staff for operational problem-solving and process development

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and challenges impacting sales performance
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure sales operations continuity
  • Drive efficiency, productivity, and risk minimization
  • Maximize gains and minimize costs
  • Continuously innovate processes and systems
  • Ensure compliance and minimize risks within the regulatory environment

Sales Process Optimization:

  • Continuously improve sales processes for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for enhancement

Staff:

  • Lead and develop staff for high productivity and performance
  • Maintain high staff morale
  • Implement Performance Excellence Models and regular reviews
  • Encourage continuous training and staff development

Relationship Management:

  • Provide problem-solving assistance to staff promptly
  • Ensure effective communication processes

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Strengthen relationships with existing customers for repeat business and loyalty
  • Implement CRM systems for better customer service
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Effectively handle customer complaints and feedback

Financial Discipline:

  • Develop budgets aligned with strategic vision
  • Monitor budgets regularly and analyze variances
  • Assess and approve budgetary expenses requests

Customer and Broker Service:

  • Manage client and broker complaints efficiently
  • Address complex customer/broker issues effectively
  • Analyze complaint feedback to identify and resolve problems

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma relevant to Industry
  • At least 5 years' experience in short-term insurance sales environment
  • Leadership or Management studies/qualification advantageous
  • FAIS representative with completed RE exams
  • 18 CPD (Continuous Professional Development) points
