As a member of the South African Project Development Team, the Head Commercial will be responsible for commercializing our solar projects as well as overseeing all our financial affairs in South Africa.


Your tasks will include:

  • Lead the commercialization process for our projects in the market
  • Act as a Project Director during the implementation of our projects
  • Lead and further strengthen a very capable commercial team
  • Originate commercial deals for the development of new projects and acquisition of developed projects in South Africa
  • Conduct internal analyses of commercial offers received for the developed project portfolio
  • Manage the continued development of assets in the IBV South Africa pipeline
  • Manage relationships with local consultants supporting on business development activities scope of work and activities that consultants perform for ib vogt
  • Coordinate with Headquarters and relevant teams like project finance, offtake origination, project development, EPC, tax, finance and technical teams to ensure commercial contracts are aligned with the project development profile (schedule, cost, risk etc.)

Your Profile:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience within renewable energy, solar will be an added advantage
  • Track record of successfully closed renewable energy projects (project finance and M&A)
  • Proven network in the sector in South Africa
  • Familiarity with the private and public power procurement processes within South Africa
  • Understanding of South African energy market and its legal framework
  • Experience and familiarity with structured project finance and the sensitivities of equity and debt providers related to the respective terms of the PPA
  • Attentive to details as well as being able to understand the broader picture
  • Selfdriven and able to work flexibly with stakeholders from different cultures
  • Experience with complex, multistakeholder projects
  • Strong commercial and proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative across multiple tasks
  • Strong negotiating and problem solving skills
  • Solid technical acumen for or existing knowledge of PVtechnology, project development, construction, operation, maintenance and asset management
  • Intercultural competence and teamplayer
  • Fluent in English
