Manage the team of Student Support and Development Advisors ensuring the department is working towards delivering against short, medium, and long-term departmental and organizational priorities and objectives in a way that aligns with the institutional definition of holistic support and the institution's Values.


  • Oversee the career development of the Student Support and Development Advisors, identifying areas to improve and providing guidance around how to be more effective in their roles. Stay up to date with best practices in student counseling and support services and integrate these practices into the institution's policies, systems, and processes.
  • Train and supervise the Student Support and Development Advisors on best practice counseling techniques and institutional policy implementation.
  • Oversee the department's response times and ticket satisfaction scores to ensure student queries are resolved in a timely manner and aligned with the values of the community.
  • Identify important or urgent issues and ensure they are escalated appropriately to the relevant stakeholders and/or interventions prepared and implemented.
  • Prepare and implement various interventions or responses, based on student need, for students (in line with student health and wellness, academic support and student life) for delivery via a variety of mechanisms within the context of an online student community.
  • Develop a system to maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and support services provided to students.
  • Develop appropriate and effective ways of communicating with students and staff.
