VACANCY - EXTRUSION HEAD OF DEPARTMENT


A packaging manufacturer is looking to employ the services of an Extrusion Head of Department to join their Production team.

The role is based in Cape Town, Southern Suburbs and will report to the Operations Manager.

The main role objectives will include but not be limited to:

  • Control, coordinate and direct all activities related to the Polymer Extrusion department.
  • Provide performance coaching/feedback and development planning for direct reports to enhance personal performance and company productivity.
  • Drive the implementation of the process for measuring, reviewing, and improving the results of the main activities within the department.
  • Continually supervise and monitor the training and implementation of the internal standard operating procedures.
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement studies.
  • Identify and drive the Preventative Maintenance Program of the department.
  • Be responsible for the execution of improvement projects and special assignments.
  • Be responsible for understanding strategic expectations and goals for the departments.
  • Knowledge and experience of OEE advantageous.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment of which a minimum of 3 years' experience is in a Supervisory role.
  • Polymer Extrusion process background is advantageous.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Experience working with ISO standards and systems.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft office suite).
  • The ability to lead a team successfully and employee relations experience.
