Role summary:


The Medical Doctor must be able to function independently as a professional in the medical management of the in-patients at the Transitional Care Facility.

The Medical Doctor must also function within the multi-disciplinary team and be able to liaise with all internal staff, patients, families, and outside healthcare providers, when necessary,

Remuneration:

  • R per annum

Working hours
Monday to Fridays - 6.30am to 4pm

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum educational qualifications:

  • Appropriate health professional qualification and current registration.
  • Qualification MB ChB
  • Registered as a Medical Practitioner
  • Registration with HPCSA
  • Proof of Medical Indemnity (MPS Registration)

Experience:

  • Experience in leading and implementing major change initiatives.
  • Understanding of the social, emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical and mental health issues affecting older people.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships both internally, externally and with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Welldemonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and/or make appropriate recommendations.
  • Welldeveloped time management and organizational skills, including the ability to plan workload, prioritize and adapt to changing demands.

Competencies:

  • Provide palliative medical care expertise to the Hospice.
  • Assess symptoms.
  • Diagnose conditions.
  • Prescribe and administer treatment.
  • Provide followup care of patients, refer them to other providers, and interpret their laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses, and other health professionals.
  • Ward rounds.
  • Certification of deaths
  • A comprehensive Curriculum vitae (CV) with contactable referees
  • A copy of HPCSA registration
  • A copy of identity document
  • Proof of Medical Indemnity (MPS Registration)
