The client is an advisory firm that unlocks capital for sustainable growth in underserved markets, focusing on clean energy access and nature-based solutions. They provide transaction and strategy advisory services to investors, fund managers, companies, donors, and governments.   

They are seeking a Business Development Consultant to focus on non-Francophone Africa, targeting mining clients, particularly those in the exploratory stage or operating in challenging energy environments. The consultant will be responsible for originating deals, establishing key relationships with mining companies, and closing transactions that provide energy finance solutions.

Deliverables  
  • Identify and secure deals with mining clients, focusing on junior miners in exploratory phases and those in regions with unreliable or expensive energy. 
  • Establish connections with potential clients, ensuring introductions to relevant mining companies. 
  • Close transactions and secure long-term energy finance solutions for mining operations. 
  • Leverage existing industry connections to originate new business opportunities. 

Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working with junior miners in the exploratory phase, particularly in regions with unreliable or expensive energy (e.g., Madagascar, Mozambique, Sierra Leone).
  • Industry-specific experience in mining, energy, or related fields that involve long-term client relationships. 
  • Proven sales or business development experience, particularly in selling long-term solutions or services to mining companies. 
Technical requirements  
Strong understanding of energy modeling and the financial aspects of energy solutions for mining operations.
Soft skills  
Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills. Ability to secure initial engagements ('foot in the door') with mining companies. 
Working ArrangementLocation  | Africa Based with a focus on Non-francophone countries
