**_ Position Purpose:_**

To manage the practical implementation of employee relations policies and procedures in such a way as to facilitate the

creation of an environment conducive to employee satisfaction and high levels of productivity which limits Transnet National

Ports Authority’s risk in the area of employee relations.
To support the Manager, Human Resources in undertaking an oversight role of providing strategic, guidance and advice on

employee relations processes and systems within the port Durban

**_ Position outputs:_**

.1. Manage staff & shop stewards within the section so that they work within an environment conducive to being motivated

and to achieving work objectives

2. Monitor and control budget so that spending is within approved parameters.

3. Manage, guide and monitor the implementation of Transnet National Ports Authority’s employee relations strategy by
ensuring the objectives of the strategy are supported and delivered upon.

4. Ensure the effective implementation of the employee relations strategy so that it is achieved within time, budget and quality

requirements.

5. Manage the implementation of appropriate employee relations policies that facilitate the achievement of the employee

strategy.

6. Ensure effective communication and liaison with the various departments within the Port/ Dredging Services/ Aviation

/MSOE so that they are aware of the employee relations strategy, plan and policies and buy into ensuring their effective

implementation within the business unit.

7. Provide support in departments within the Port / Dredging Services/ Aviation / MSOE in the implementation of the

employee relations strategy and policy

8. Where required, represent Transnet National Ports Authority at the Transnet Bargaining council so that the business needs

of Transnet National Ports Authority and the Transnet Group are met in the various collective agreements and resolutions.

9. Where required, represent Port/ Dredging Services/ Aviation / MSOE at the statutory dispute resolution mechanisms so

that a solution that minimize costs and risks for Transnet National Ports Authority is broken.

10. Liaise directly with the Senior Manager Employee Relations and Manager HR to ensure that she/ he is kept abreast of the

employee relations issues occurring in the port, so that he/she is strategically positioned to respond quickly and appropriately

to employee relations matters.

11. Monitor employee relations through climate and cultural surveys, analyzing and resolving disputes. Advice and guide on

corrective action to be instituted.

12. Evaluate all employee relations initiatives undertaken by the Port/ Dredging Services/ Aviation / MSOE and provide

feedback on these initiatives to the Senior Manager and Manager HR to inform future employee relations initiatives.

13. Compile and present reports (including recommendations best practice, benchmarking, trends and risks) and submit to

the Senior Manager Employee Relations and Manager HR so that they are informed of strategic and policy issues pertaining

to employee relations within the ports.

15. Provide advice on general labour law education, new labour law legislation, and policies by means of training sessions to

minimize labour disputes and uncertainties, and ensure that employees and supervisors are aware and comply with labour

laws

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- Degree / B Tech in human resources or National
- Diploma in Labour Law & Advance Labour relations or IR program
- At least 5 years’ experience providing employee Relations advisory services to executives and management or practicing

in labour dispute resolution mechanisms.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ at Management level is essential
- Code 08 (EB) driver’s license
