Tissue Paper Production Manager

Location - Kempton Park

Purpose of Role

The main purpose of the role is to manage and lead the production team by ensuring effective utilisation of the key resources to ensure key Centre business needs are met.

The individual is responsible for safety, productivity, quality, cost, and reliability within the production department.

In the role reports shift team leaders (X4) (direct report) and the role reports to the Centre Factory Manager

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan the plant operations to ensure the maximum utilization of the resources (i.e. raw materials, energy, people).
- Develop and track improvement in reduction of planned downtime hours
- Liaise with customer and suppliers and respond to the customer feedback and takes corrective action if required.
- Initiates and supports the development of the existing and new products when required.
- Fully participate in the root cause analysis and continuous improvement programs
- Leading a functional team that is responsible for the Centre by coaching & mentoring.
- Conduct performance management of the production shifts and team leaders.
- Liase with internal stakeholders i.e. sales team, production planning department, maintenance team, etc for the efficient use of the tissue machines
- Set goals, objectives and standards of measurement for the tissue mill production team
- Ensures a safe working environment with the development of safety and housekeeping standards.
- Also ensure department complies with the relevant statutory requirements.
- Manage and support SHEQ initiatives and objectives.
- Analyse budgets and continuously control production costs.
- Manage all activities within the production process, including maintenance and the workforce.
- Ensure that product quality standard is in place and adhered to by production team
- Liase with external stakeholders e.g. chemical suppliers, fabric suppliers, etc

Educational Qualifications:

- Minimum diploma Chemical Engineering diploma or Pulp and Paper Technology

BTech/BSc Chemical Engineering or BTech: Pulp & Paper Technology will be an added advantage.

Knowledge and Experience:

- Min 10 years in pulp and paper environment
- Min 5 years managerial experience
- Extensive knowledge in paper and/or tissue manufacturing
