**JOB DESCRIPTION**

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Export Controller to join our team. As an Export Controller, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with export control regulations, coordinating export activities, and supporting our organization's international trade operations. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth and efficient movement of goods across borders while adhering to all legal requirements. **RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Adhere to the company's or organisation's clearing & forwarding operations policies and procedures
- Ensure contracts are executed by the service level agreement and standard operating procedure per customer
- Handle all export shipments from first notification until the contract is executed in full in compliance with what was agreed with the customer
- Compile and send out an estimate to the operations manager for every new contract, once approved the estimate must be sent to the finance department and thereafter the contract should be prepared and sent out to the customer to sign
- An execution plan must be compiled and it must include target dates and service provider network
- All contracts must be executed in strict compliance with budgeted expenses to each supplier detailed on the estimate
- Immediately raise any concerns with the operations manager for resolution
- Send out status reports to customers on every contract in progress daily
- The sailing schedule and equipment are to be agreed upon with the customer prior to placing a freight booking
- Booking is to be placed with carriers upon first notice of shipment where Seamaster is controlling the freight
- Ensure containers are placed for packing within the free days allocated by the shipping line and stack dates.
- Submit customs clearances three days before export stacks open
- Ensure shipping instructions are submitted by the deadlines issued by carriers
- Release bills of lading to customers - Only if credit terms are in place and not exceeded or when funds have been received.
- Once the contract has been executed and completed the final cost sheet must be compiled and sent to the operations manager to sign off on, thereafter sent to the finance department with supporting documents to raise the invoice.
- All data on estimates and final billing must be recorded on the operations status report

**Additional Responsibilities**
- Daily report to be sent to the operations manager on all export contracts
- Concerns to be raised to the operations manager daily on a report
- Assist in other departments when needed and at the direction of the operations manager

**PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
- New graduates or 2 years of experience working in export control, international trade compliance, or a similar role is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of South African and international export control regulations, including export licensing requirements and restricted/prohibited party lists.
- Strong understanding of export control classifications and experience in product or technology classification.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficient in using export control software and systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk assessment.
- Professional certifications in export control (e.g., Certified Export Specialist) are a plus.
