The Area Director of Marketing, Digital & Loyalty (ADMDL) acts as the marketing leader for properties within a designated area in [Europe / Middle East / Africa], with a focus on developing marketing strategies and tactics to support revenue and market share goals, and drive brand awareness by fully leveraging global and continent marketing programs at the property and area level.

The ADMDL defines the Area strategy and programming based on the annual EMEA plans for Brand, Marketing, Digital, Loyalty, F&B and Partner Marketing to raise hotel awareness, drive demand, deepen loyalty and enrich the brand experience on property. This role acts as a brand advocate, ensuring the activation and pull-through of key brand strategies, brand marketing initiatives and events in the hotels, and drives the opening, re-opening and positioning strategy for hotels in the area.

The ADMDL will be responsible for guiding on property and complex marketing individuals or teams that are funded by hotels to execute marketing functions within the area of coverage to drive revenue to the hotels, market share and awareness through highly impactful marketing programs and initiatives.

The ADMDL is a dynamic and creative marketeer who can drive and implement integrated marketing strategies designed to position all hotels across the area effectively to their target audience / segments. The role works closely with key stakeholders across the business and maintains strong working relationships with the Area Vice President (AVP), Area team, hotel GMs and Marketing teams and the Continent Consumer Operations discipline leaders and teams. The position reports to the Senior Director Area Marketing EMEA.

**SCOPE**

The Area Director Marketing, Digital & Loyalty (ADMDL) provides marketing support for the hotels defined within his/her area and is part of the Sub-Saharan Africa team:

- Location: Cape Town
- This position will be required to travel frequently.

**EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS**

**Leads Area Marketing, Digital & Loyalty Strategy**
- Closely partners with Continent Brand, Marketing, Digital, Loyalty, F&B and Partner Marketing disciplines to ensure that the global and continent vision is applied in the area, as well as to ensure that property assets and programming are aligned with brand standards, brand voice and any required brand activities.
- Guides hotels through the marketing plan and budget process and provides strategic marketing support to meet business plan and market share goals. Understands and applies area consumer insights into hotel business plan.
- Guides local property marketing spend across both digital and traditional channels to ensure maximum productivity/ROI and brand identity/marketing communications standards adherence and to eliminate non-value-added expenditures.
- Leads the development and delivery of hotel positioning as part of the marketing strategy in line with the hotel USPs, strategic priorities and revenue target by market segments. Specific emphasis applied to competitive differentiation.
- Leads restaurants & bars marketing and positioning strategy across the area. Guides region specific Marriott Bonvoy F&B marketing campaigns and support restaurants and bar marketing initiatives across area.
- Leads digital marketing efforts to drive increase in direct business via Marriott Channels.
- Validate and lead locally relevant partnerships, in consultation with the continent Partnerships team where appropriate.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with local tourist boards to support hotel and area marketing initiatives.
- In conjunction with continent team owns destination marketing activities for their markets working in collaboration with Franchise Commercial Team.
- Acts as marketing, digital and loyalty consultant for hotel General Managers, complex / hotel Sales & Marketing leaders, AVPs and area team.
- Supports AVP needs as necessary including preparing and delivering owner presentations on marketing, digital and loyalty related topics, as required.
- Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of all launched marketing campaigns and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Ensures hotels within a geographically defined cluster are correctly positioned relative to each other.
