Job Title: Senior Travel Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Travel Designer to join our team at Wilderness Safaris. As a Senior Travel Designer, you will be responsible for generating and growing sales by securing, costing, and presenting journeys to our Sales agents accurately, efficiently, and timeously.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop relationships with Sales Agents and foster strong partnerships to drive sales growth.
  • Generate and grow sales by securing, costing, and presenting journeys to Sales agents in a timely manner.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to Sales agents, ensuring efficient communication and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Liaise with the Reservations Manager on sales potential and agent relationships for all bookings.
  • Manage new requests from Sales agents, from quote to confirmation, while maintaining booking integrity.
  • Quote accurately and timely, considering strategic and preferred suppliers, and up-selling where possible.
  • Build strong connections with supplier reservations teams and nurture relationships to secure benefits.
  • Maximize mutually beneficial relationships with AP partners, lodges, and areas.
  • Streamline sales negotiations, reducing dead beds and wait lists, and maximizing camp yield.
  • Liaise with RARA for rate, accommodation, and activity issues on the WW.
  • Understand sales agents' needs, including urgency of replies, and provide speedy turnaround for alternatives.
  • Follow up on outstanding provisional bookings and manage yield implications.
  • Maintain booking prov in the WW with relevant documents and guest information.
  • Correspond with suppliers to hold space, room types, and flights, and use online facilities to maximize response times.
  • Escalate supplier issues to Res managers or product managers.
  • Handle prov changes efficiently and communicate with Sales agents on booking status.
Requirements:
  • Matric certificate with maths (minimum standard grade or above).
  • Tertiary certificate in Travel & Tourism/hospitality is advantageous.
  • 4-5 years of experience in handling customer relationships and developing product in the inbound travel industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Southern and East Africa.
  • Personal or educational travel experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Mozambique, Mauritius, and Seychelles is an added advantage.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of TourPlan and WETU or similar booking/operating system.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong financial skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and maintain high-quality output.
  • High integrity level and ethical conduct.
