Job Summary

UPL South Africa is a leading company in the agricultural inputs industry, seeking a highly skilled NPP Business Development Manager to drive business growth and commercial success in Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development with B2B Customers
    • Build and maintain relationships with key customers such as River BioScience, AECI Plant Health, Omnia, InteliGro, Bancella, Rovensa, etc.
    • Identify portfolio gaps and needs, and support Portfolio Managers in capturing business cases and commercializing new products.
    • Drive commercial sales of NPP products, meeting annual targets and KPIs.
  • Business Development with UPL Distributors
    • Build and maintain relationships with distributors such as Nexus, Protecta, CHC, etc.
    • Identify development gaps and needs, and support Portfolio Managers in capturing business cases and commercializing new products.
    • Drive commercial sales with regional Commercial teams, supporting training sessions, product awareness, and marketing activities.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution
    • Plan, implement, and execute a Go-to-Market strategy for NPP products in Southern Africa.
    • Develop and implement incentive schemes, pricing structures, and other initiatives to improve margins and grow sales.
    • Closely liaise with Portfolio, R&D, and Regulatory colleagues on business cases, commercial trials, new product developments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Report monthly to the Africa NPP Leadership Team on NPP sales, profitability, new product developments, business cases, product launches, marketing and training activities, competitor activities, and risk and opportunities for each country in Southern Africa.
    • Monitor and analyze competitor actions in Southern Africa, and provide insights to inform business decisions.
  • Internal and External Stakeholder Management
    • Liaise with Commercial, Development, and Marketing teams on new product launches, technical training, focus products, marketing activities, demonstrations, and field events.
    • Liaise with Supply Chain to ensure forecasting and stock availability.
    • Engage with distributors, farmers, researchers, industry specialists, and suppliers to drive business growth and commercial success.
Requirements
  • 5 years' experience in the crop protection industry in marketing and business development positions.
  • BSc Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, with BASOS and AVCASA certification.
