  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the environmental sector, both in South Africa and across the borders
  • Assist unit managers and key account managers with heightening market awareness of the company to grow existing clients
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for current and future markets
  • Develop and implement effective business development strategies and plans
  • Support development of company website and social media
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to clients in collaboration with unit managers and key account managers in line with company strategy
  • Negotiate contracts with clients, ensuring favourable terms and conditions for all parties
  • Promote company to prospective employees by heightening awareness of the company profile to attract talent, through effective digital media marketing campaigns
  • Establish links and build networks with tertiary institutions producing graduates that could find employment with company
  • Collaborate with unit managers, geographic offices and key account managers to ensure the correct expertise is applied to meet client requirements
  • Prepare regular reports on business development activities and performance, with recommendations for improvement
  • Attend industry events, conferences and networking opportunities to promote the company
  • Provide input and support for strategic planning and business development initiatives

Requirements:

  • Degree/Higher Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing or related
  • Proven experience in business development, with a track record of achieving targets and driving revenue growth
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and industry standards, not only in South Africa, but also in the rest of Africa
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and partners at all levels
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel as required

Key Skills:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and detail-oriented
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with experience using data analytics tools
  • Planning, organising and execution able to identify opportunities and develop actionable plans to capitalise on them
  • Be motivated to succeed financially
