Job Summary

The NBA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the growth of its direct-to-consumer business in Africa. As the Direct-To-Consumer Growth Lead NBA Africa, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive growth strategy for the league's digital platforms, including NBA League Pass, mobile apps, social media, and eCommerce.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a data-driven growth strategy to expand the NBA's digital footprint in Africa, focusing on fan engagement, revenue generation, and brand expansion.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive subscription growth, retention, and customer lifetime value through personalized experiences, loyalty programs, and content that resonates with African basketball fans.
  • Collaborate with the content, media, and partnerships teams to deliver cohesive and compelling fan experiences, and work closely with technology, product, and operations teams to implement innovations.
  • Stay ahead of digital and eCommerce trends in the African market, and incorporate innovative technologies into the NBA Africa ecosystem.
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships to enhance the NBA's DTC growth, and collaborate with sponsors to integrate them into digital platforms and fan engagement strategies.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in digital media/direct-response marketing, with a track record of successfully driving digital audience/customer/fan growth and revenue through paid media across platforms for a direct-to-consumer brand.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities, particularly in customer segmentation and modeling, with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word applications.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a global, matrix organization, with excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English required, with French or Portuguese an added plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior expertise working for a sports organization and supporting celebrity/athlete events, with experience tailoring strategies to diverse regions and consumer behaviors.
  • Experience working with and managing relationships with outside agencies, with a deep understanding of African markets and consumer behaviors.
