Job Title: German Travel Consultant

We are seeking a highly experienced German-speaking Senior Travel Consultant with 5+ years of experience in Southern and East African Travel Consultancy with a DMC. The ideal candidate will have excellent product knowledge and sound geographical knowledge of Southern and East Africa.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate company quoting systems and other travel-related programs with ease.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth product knowledge and geographical expertise of Southern and East Africa.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks, planning, and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Handle pressure and volume while multitasking.
  • Participate in emergency phone duty.
  • Prepare and submit quotations for agents.
  • Negotiate rates with suppliers.
  • Load rates into the operating system.
  • Collaborate with preferred suppliers.
  • Develop relationships with preferred suppliers and their products.
  • Manage provisional bookings.
  • Run tours within budget.
  • Produce guide manuals and ensure smooth tour operations.
  • Verify agent and tour information.
  • Assist with complaint handling by gathering feedback from suppliers, guides, etc.
  • Support the management and training of junior consultants.
  • Identify new venues and activities, advising the team and office.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of tour operations.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks for the Accounts department.
  • Meet performance targets.
  • Perform other reasonable work-related assignments as assigned by direct or other managers.
  • Create invoices for agents and track tour payments.
  • Proofread marketing materials sent by agents for tour promotion.
  • Verify guides booked for tours.
  • Request sales updates on groups from agents, obtain final booking numbers, and ensure all necessary information for tour operations.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in Southern and East African Travel Consultancy with a DMC.
  • C1/C2 GERMAN Language proficiency.
  • Excellent product knowledge and sound geographical knowledge of Southern and East Africa.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Professionalism and high service levels at all times.
  • Ability to handle pressure and volume while multitasking.
  • Knowledge of preferred suppliers.
  • Management and training skills for junior consultants.
  • Ability to take ownership of all aspects of tour operations.
  • Ability to meet performance targets.
