Director of Claims Operations

Aon South Africa is seeking a Director of Claims Operations to work in a hybrid capacity from our Head Office. This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily functions of the Claims Operations and Claims Advocacy teams, while driving our Aon United Strategy to enhance both colleague and client experiences, ultimately creating a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

- Propel the Aon Business Service Plan to establish a new benchmark for Claims service delivery.

- Ensure the Claims Department consistently adheres to regulatory standards.

- Manage relationships and agreements with service providers effectively.

- Formulate and execute divisional strategies to maximize new business prospects, retain existing clients, and identify cross-selling opportunities.

- Achieve revenue targets for the business unit.

- Oversee the financial management of the unit, including budgeting and reporting.

- Analyze industry competitor data to uncover emerging opportunities and develop a competitive edge.

- Lead and manage a substantial team within the business unit.

- Collaborate with other Business Unit leaders to develop and implement divisional initiatives.

- Ensure processes are in place to monitor and uphold standards of business conduct in line with Aon Ltd and regulatory requirements.

- Engage in business development efforts, contributing to Aon South Africa's growth.

- Act as the primary contact for high-profile clients and handle complex claims to resolve issues.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Educational Background

  • Key Individual registered with FSCA
  • Short-Term Insurance Qualification
  • A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in insurance.

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Thorough understanding of the South African and international short-term insurance markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of the short-term insurance industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the intermediary business environment.
  • Familiarity with legislative and regulatory requirements in the short-term insurance sector.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven ability to manage large teams effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated people management capabilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration across departments.
  • Commitment to driving efficiency and maintaining high-quality service standards.

Experience

  • 10 to 20 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry.
  • Significant managerial experience within the insurance sector.
  • Proven track record in claims settlement.
