About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at Moore. As a key member of our accounting division, you will be responsible for managing a team of accounting professionals and trainees, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a large team of accounting professionals and trainees, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.
  • Identify and track training development needs of the team, ensuring that all team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Support and provide training to the team, helping to develop their skills and expertise in areas such as financial statement compilation, independent review engagements, and financial reporting.
  • Plan, present, and implement annual strategic objectives, working closely with senior management to ensure that the team is aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and present monthly reports on operational and strategic performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare fee proposals to clients, working closely with the sales team to ensure that all proposals are accurate and competitive.
  • Perform quality reviews on work performed by the team, tracking improvements and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Track and improve overall staff efficiency, quality, and service delivery, working closely with the operations team to ensure that all processes are optimized.
  • Create, maintain, and improve service line policies, procedures, and process flows, ensuring that all team members have the necessary guidance and support to perform their roles effectively.
  • Quickly respond to client queries and collaborate with related departments/seniors to ensure that all client needs are met.
  • Review financial statement compilations, independent review engagements, and other financial reports, ensuring that all work is accurate and of high quality.
  • Present management reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations on areas such as financial performance, client satisfaction, and team development.
  • Review, send, and follow up on client fee proposals, ensuring that all proposals are accurate and competitive.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members, working closely with the sales team to ensure that all client needs are met.
  • Continuously look for innovative opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and service delivery, working closely with the operations team to implement changes as necessary.
  • Support and train the team on all accounting-related tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations, VAT and EMP return information and reconciliations, payroll processing, fixed asset register maintenance, and COID return of earnings calculations.

Requirements

  • Professional Accountant registered at SAIPA/CIMA/SAICA or similar professional body.
  • Xero Certified Advisor Certificate.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a management role of a medium-sized team of accounting professionals and/or trainees.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Xero Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working closely with clients and maintaining excellent client relationships.
  • Good experience in servicing a group of companies.
  • Excellent understanding of COID and UIF compliance requirements and processes with the Department of Labour.
  • Excellent experience with SARS processes and collaboration.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience.
  • Compilation Engagements.
  • CaseWare Working Papers experience.
  • IFRS for SME's.
  • VAT Act.
  • Companies Act.
  • Income Tax Act.
