Job Summary:

Ingenious Personnel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Crane Workshop Department, ensuring the smooth operation of our workshop and driving success within our dynamic and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall Departmental Management:

    • Conduct regular performance appraisals for each staff member to ensure they are meeting their goals and objectives.
    • Compile and submit payroll information in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Hold regular departmental meetings to discuss progress, address concerns, and set goals.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve employee morale and engagement.
    • Manage leave and absenteeism to minimize disruption to the department.
    • Implement and drive ISO and ASEC Standards in line with company strategic objectives.
    • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between departments.

    Workshop Operations:

    • Align workshop operations with budget and company strategic objectives to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
    • Oversee work in progress, scheduling, quality, quote accuracy, and profitability to ensure the department is meeting its targets.
    • Ensure quality customer service through technician evaluations and training needs.

    Communication and Feedback:

    • Provide regular updates to department staff on company news, market trends, and other relevant information to keep them informed and engaged.

    Financial Management:

    • Assist in resolving debtor disputes and aid in cash collections to ensure the department is meeting its financial targets.
    • Meet growth and market share increase objectives by developing and implementing effective strategies.
    • Analyze, prepare, and implement strategies to target and convert new business accounts, including cold calling potential clients.

    Administrative Responsibilities:

    • Ensure administrative procedures are correctly followed to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
    • Perform administrative duties accurately and promptly to meet deadlines.
    • Maintain customer records and quote registers to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.

    Reporting and Housekeeping:

    • Prepare and present reports as required to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
    • Promote and maintain good housekeeping best practices to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
    • Conduct regular ASEC audits for scorecard evaluations to ensure the department is meeting its targets.

    Operational Efficiency:

    • Submit daily timesheets and job cards promptly after completion to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
    • Report on outstanding work in progress and labor recoveries against set targets to ensure the department is meeting its goals.
    • Manage and reduce excess overtime to minimize costs and improve productivity.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or N3
    • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business Management, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical qualification or Trade certificate required.
    • A minimum of 5 years of proven and relevant experience in a management or team leader role within a material lifting industry, construction, automotive or similar industry.
    • Code 8 driver's license

    Skills:

    • Oral Comprehension: The ability to listen to and comprehend information and ideas conveyed through spoken words and sentences.
    • Problem Sensitivity: The ability to detect when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
    • Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software, including applications and programming.
    • Strong management and strategic skills.
