Village Bakery is a leading bakery and pastry company based in Camps Bay. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Baker to lead our dynamic team and drive the success of our business.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing a bakery team, producing high-quality bread and pastry products, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. They will also have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and supervise staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the production schedule of the bakery and ensure timely delivery of products
  • Develop and implement new recipes and product lines to drive business growth
  • Train and supervise staff to ensure high-quality products and excellent customer service
  • Maintain accurate production records and inventory levels
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in a bakery or similar food production environment
  • Pastry qualification (advantageous)
  • Excellent baking and pastry making skills, including the ability to develop and innovate recipes
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and training staff
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage production schedules and inventory effectively
  • Knowledge of food safety and HACCP
  • Familiar with industry trends and product developments
  • Must have own transport and valid license - non negotiable

This is a full-time position, and the Head Baker must be willing to work flexible hours, including early morning starts, evenings, and weekends to meet production schedules.
