Executive Chef Assistant

Rick's Café Americain is a well-established restaurant in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team.
The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, maintaining high culinary standards, and contributing to menu development. Our restaurant is committed to serving high-quality, seasonal Mediterranean dishes in a fast-paced and energetic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including food preparation, presentation, and plating.
- Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff to ensure high standards and efficiency.
- Contribute to menu planning, development, and implementation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Monitor inventory, ordering, and storage of ingredients and supplies.
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or senior chef role.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
- Creativity, passion, and commitment to delivering exceptional cuisine.
