Cabin Steward Job Description

**Key Responsibilities**

As a Cabin Steward with MSC Cruises, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and service in our cabins. Your duties will include:

* Maintaining compliance with MSC sanitation standards, particularly in regards to food, water, and ice handling, as well as sanitizing procedures for cabins used by guests who may have been ill

* Providing professional, courteous, and friendly service to all guests, with a focus on maximizing guest recognition through the use of guest history information

* Maintaining sanitation, cleanliness, comfort, and service in a specified number of cabins in a specified section

* Ensuring compliance with MSC sanitation procedures to clean cabins and eliminate cross-contamination

* Sanitizing shower-heads in every cabin bathroom at least once every six months, using a chlorine solution of 100ppm for at least 30 seconds, and recording this function in the showerhead logbook in the Housekeeping office

* Changing used towels every morning and evening, or leaving them unchanged if requested by guests

* Following environmental notices, providing daily towel changes in suite cabins

* Changing all bed sheets twice a week and pillowcases according to MSC Standard Procedures for linen changes

* Conducting a full self-check of cabins and bathrooms before embarkation, ensuring all points comply with Standard Procedures

* Assisting guests in becoming familiar with facilities and controls, including air conditioning, location of life jackets, muster station, emergency information, radio, TV remote control, and light switches

* Ensuring that vacuum cleaners are not used in cabins or hallways before 09:00

* Participating in Deep Cleaning projects as advised by the Housekeeper

* Providing an Empty Cabin Report to the Housekeeper after sailing on embarkation day

**Qualifications**

To be considered for this role, you will need:

* A minimum of 24 months of documented and demonstrable experience as a Cabin Steward on an internationally trading guest vessel, or a minimum of two years of experience as a Room Attendant in a high-standard international hotel (4/5 stars)

* Proven multi-operational skills in Cruise Ship Housekeeping operations in a multinational environment

* A High School Graduate

* A Certificate of good service in a specialized housekeeping training facility

* Demonstrated understanding of all MSC sanitation standards relating to Housekeeping and Food Safety

* Demonstrated ability to work efficiently at high speed, in close co-operation with assistants

**Visa & Other Requirements**

Please note that the following requirements must be met:

* A valid passport with at least six months of validity before joining

* STCW95/2010 certification (basic firefighting, personal survival techniques, elementary first aid, personal security and social responsibility, security awareness, passenger ship familiarization) is compulsory before joining the vessel

* A Good Health declaration released by a recognized doctor is mandatory before joining the vessel
