Main Responsibilities

The Duty Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel, upholding the high standards of The Royal Portfolio. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively manage and control daily hotel operations, guaranteeing exceptional guest satisfaction and staff satisfaction.

Key Duties:
  • Provide exceptional guest interaction and satisfaction, ensuring that every guest feels valued and catered to.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for guests, anticipating and catering to their needs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain open communication with all departments, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes guest and staff satisfaction.
  • Support the Rooms Division and Food & Beverage Department in managing hotel operations, ensuring seamless coordination and execution.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, assume the role of Senior Manager and point of contact, making informed decisions that align with the company's interests and priorities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of guests and staff are paramount, making decisions that prioritize their safety and security.
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks throughout the hotel, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Guide site inspections and provide guests with a comprehensive tour of the property, highlighting its unique features and amenities.
  • Embody the company's purpose and values, fostering a culture that is deeply rooted in The Royal Portfolio's mission.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5 years' experience in a luxury 5-star establishment, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional results.
  • 3 years' experience in Room Division, Food & Beverage, or Housekeeping, with a strong understanding of hotel operations.
  • Diploma in Hospitality, with a focus on hotel management and operations.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with guests and staff.
  • International language skills, with a preference for languages spoken in the region.
  • Proficiency in systems such as Micros (POS), Opera (PMS), and Microsoft Office.

The successful candidate will be a team player, with a strong cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous, and a valid work permit is essential for non-South African candidates. As a condition of employment, all staff will undergo a pre-employment polygraph test.
