Position Overview

This leadership role oversees the strategic direction, sales growth, marketing initiatives, and operational efficiency of the retail division for Service Solutions in Cape Town, South Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for retail expansion, including new store openings and market research.
  • Provide input to the Retail Department's strategic direction, focusing on turnover, profitability, budgets, and departmental structure.
  • Design and implement a strategic plan to achieve sustainable long-term growth for the retail division.

Operations and Management:

  • Deliver agreed-upon sales and profit targets for the retail division.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and customer satisfaction.
  • Hold staff accountable for maintaining high customer service standards.
  • Ensure staff are fully trained on all company products and services.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Execute the company's brand equity, focusing on retail stores as key touchpoints for consumers.
  • Maintain awareness of consumer desires within retail stores and work with the Marketing Department to execute selected initiatives.

Logistics and Maintenance:

  • Work with the Supply Chain Manager to establish efficient order/delivery processes for stock.
  • Manage store lease negotiations, including new options and renewals.

Staff Development and Management:

  • Understand and ensure compliance with relevant labor laws governing employees.
  • Manage the recruitment process for all retail management positions.
  • Develop leadership and implement a training schedule for employees, including company history, policies, product knowledge, and customer service.

Work Health and Safety:

  • Apply best practices and ensure compliance with all OHSA legislation.
  • Ensure new retail store shop fittings support a safe work environment minimizing risk to employee health and wellbeing.

Personal Characteristics:

Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills; ability to mentor, guide, and inspire teams; entrepreneurial with the ability to think outside the box; and ability to deliver direction and motivate teams to achieve results based on sound strategy.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years in field area of hospitality and/or retail senior management in a premium environment.
  • Proven record of successful conceptual development and strategic implementation.
  • Proven track record with increasing responsibilities and the ability to manage effectively areas of profit/loss with a growth-oriented multi-unit organization.

Education and Qualifications:

Intermediate computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); strong written and verbal communication skills; and creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
