Job Title: Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Computing Sciences

The HR Genie is seeking a highly motivated and experienced academic to join its team as an Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Computing Sciences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learning and Teaching:
    • Develop and deliver high-quality teaching materials and assessments for assigned modules.
    • Supervise and mentor junior colleagues to ensure effective learning and teaching practices.
    • Represent the Department at relevant Faculty and University learning and teaching forums.
  • Research:
    • Conduct research in the field of Computer Science or Information Systems and publish research outputs in reputable journals.
    • Supervise postgraduate students to successful completion and provide guidance on research projects.
    • Participate in departmental research activities and represent the department at relevant Faculty and University research forums.
  • Engagement:
    • Participate in departmental engagement activities and represent the Department at relevant Faculty and University engagement forums.
Core Competencies

The successful candidate will possess the following core competencies:

  • Associate Professor:
    • Advanced knowledge of topics in Computer Science or Information Systems.
    • High-level cognitive thinking skills for setting and marking assessments.
    • Leadership skills for module and programme development.
    • Supervision of postgraduate students to successful completion.
    • Recent and regular research publications.
    • Management and leadership of collaborative team research projects.
  • Senior Lecturer:
    • Setting and marking of assessments that require high-level cognitive thinking.
    • Application of theoretical concepts to practical examples in learning and teaching practice.
    • Module and curricula development within the Computer Science or Information Systems discipline.
    • Participation in collaborative team research projects.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Associate Professor:
    • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Senior Lecturer.
    • Academic background in programming languages such as C#, Java, Matlab, and data structures.
    • Involvement in institutional organizational functions at a management level.
    • Supervision of postgraduate students to successful completion.
  • Senior Lecturer:
    • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
    • Minimum of 3 years related or relevant working experience as an academic or in a relevant industry.
    • Academic background in programming languages such as C#, Java, Matlab, and data structures.
