Job Purpose:
The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and administering the learning process for students in theoretical and practical modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will also participate in research, contribute to academic and community engagement, and be involved in the core functions of the University.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and mentor students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Supervise postgraduate students, particularly doctoral candidates, and provide guidance on research projects.
- Conduct independent research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Lead collaborative research projects with disciplines within and external to the University.
- Secure research funding and third-stream income.
- Establish a national reputation in their field of expertise through collaboration, consultation, and involvement in policy processes or projects.
- Provide leadership within the institution, nationally, and internationally through consultancy, policy development, or project involvement.
- Mentor novice researchers in the Nursing Department.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Nursing or an equivalent qualification. They must be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a registered nurse and a nurse educator. A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a learning, teaching, and research environment is required. A proven record of research portfolio, including successful postgraduate supervision, and a proven record of accepted peer-reviewed publications are essential. Leadership abilities and being an NRF-rated researcher will be advantageous.
