About the Role

O'Brien Recruitment is seeking a skilled Senior Merchandise Planner to join their client, a leading name in the retail apparel industry. This dynamic role involves developing and executing merchandise planning strategies to optimize product assortment and achieve sales, margin, and inventory goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Merchandise Planning: Develop and execute merchandise planning strategies to drive product success through meticulous planning.
  • Analysis and Insights: Analyze sales trends, customer insights, and market data to inform buying decisions and drive growth.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with buying, marketing, and retail teams to align on product launches and promotional activities.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory flow to ensure optimal stock levels across stores and e-commerce platforms.
  • Demand Forecasting: Forecast demand and create seasonal plans, leveraging data-driven insights.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct regular performance analysis, identifying opportunities and risks, and making actionable recommendations.
  • Talent Development: Mentor and guide junior planners, fostering a collaborative and high-performing planning team.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in merchandise planning within the retail apparel sector.
  • Proven track record of success in forecasting, inventory management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in merchandise planning tools and advanced Excel skills.
  • A degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field is preferred.
