Job Description: Design and Construction Manager

">

We are seeking an experienced Design and Construction Manager to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure development department, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and construction of various road infrastructure projects across the country.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • ">
  • Participate in the identification and prioritization of projects using data from relevant management systems;">
  • Review assessment and design reports and propose appropriate solutions or strategies;">
  • Champion the Framework for Infrastructure Procurement and Delivery Management (FIPDM), including gateway reviews;">
  • Prepare annual budgets and proposed programs based on project requirements;">
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with technical, financial, and quality requirements;">
  • Ensure completion of projects on time, within budget, and in conformance with quality standards;">
  • Monitor performance through regular meetings with consultants and contractors;">
  • Review scope of work and potential impact on budget and request additional funds if necessary;">
  • Ensure compliance with all technical, financial, and quality requirements of contracts;">
  • Mitigate and report on incidents as and when required;">
  • Coordinate with regional environmental and land specialists to ensure timely project delivery;">

Requirements:

">

To be considered for this role, you will need to have a formal NQF Level 8 qualification in Engineering (Civil) and a valid Professional registration with ECSA as a PR Eng/Technologist or equivalent. You should also have at least 15 years' experience post-first civil engineering qualification and 3 years supervisory/management experience of a project management team. Additionally, you should have experience in managing multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

A postgraduate degree in Management and Engineering would be advantageous, as would experience in managing projects portfolios exceeding a budget of R500 million.

Estimated Salary: R1,200,000 - R1,800,000 per annum, depending on experience.

">

Location: Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth

">

Working Conditions: This role requires travel as and when required, attendance at cluster meetings, and the ability to work in a typical office and/or site work environment, including site visits as and when required.
