Job Description

The role requires a Senior Environmental Consultant with a strong background in mine rehabilitation and closure planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative approaches and techniques to deliver high-quality projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead transdisciplinary project teams to deliver complex technical contributions to the Mine Closure practice.
  2. Mentor and grow the Mine Closure team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  3. Develop winning proposals and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring client satisfaction and adherence to international standards.
  4. Work collaboratively with other senior members of the WSP Mining team to implement business growth strategies and develop relationships with a broad client base.
  5. Provide technical input to specific aspects of closure planning, such as devising closure criteria/measures for waste residue facilities and contaminated land, surface rehabilitation, or treatment of excess mine water.

Health and Safety:

  1. Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with WSP's health, safety, environmental, and quality vision and policies.
  2. Contribute to the identification of SHEQ risks and drive processes to achieve Zero Harm.

Key Competencies and Generic Skills:

  • Demonstrable closure experience, including knowledge of the mining sectors in South Africa and Africa, particularly within the field of rehabilitation and closure.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and mentor high-performing teams.
  • High-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong technical writing capability.
