Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up the Tasting Area: Ensure that the tasting area is prepared and presented in an appealing and professional manner.
  • Presentation of Tutored Wine Tastings: Deliver engaging and informative wine tastings that showcase your extensive knowledge of wines.
  • Cellar Tours: Provide personalized tours of our cellar, highlighting the unique characteristics and features of our wine collection.
  • Quality Control: Verify that all drinks are served at the correct temperature and presentation standards are met.
  • Processing Wine Orders: Accurately process wine orders and maintain accurate records of sales.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring adequate supply and preventing losses due to breakage, waste, theft, or incorrect orders.
  • Tasting and Portion Control: Implement strict tasting and portion control measures to maintain quality and minimize waste.
  • Daily Stock-Take: Conduct daily stock-takes of wine and beverages and complete accurate stock movement sheets.
  • Sales Promotion: Promote and process sales effectively, adhering to the provisions and regulations outlined in the Liquor Act (No. 59 of 2003) and other relevant laws.
Candidate Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Education: A Grade 12 certificate is mandatory.
  • Transportation: You must have reliable transportation or access to it.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Wine Tutor is preferred, with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the industry.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of wines and the ability to communicate complex information to guests.
  • Personality: You should be passionate about wine and the hospitality industry, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service orientation and the ability to interact effectively with high-profile clients.
  • Presentation: You must present yourself professionally and be well-groomed.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing situations under pressure.

We offer a competitive salary of $40,000 - $60,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
