Job Title: Senior Group Operations Consultant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Specialist Operations to join our team at ABC Worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of travel-related programs, excellent product knowledge of Southern and East Africa, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate company quoting systems and other travel-related programs with ease.
  • Develop and maintain strong product knowledge and geographical expertise of Southern and East Africa.
  • Prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines to ensure smooth tour operations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide exceptional service levels at all times.
  • Manage pressure and volume, multitasking with ease.
  • Participate in emergency phone duty.
  • Negotiate rates with preferred suppliers.
  • Ensure rates are loaded into the operating system.
  • Use preferred suppliers and visit them regularly to stay up-to-date on products.
  • Manage provisional bookings and ensure smooth tour operations.
  • Run all aspects of tours within budget.
  • Verify provisional bookings and ensure suppliers meet quality standards.
  • Strive to increase margin without compromising quality and standard.
  • Brief guides and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Produce guide manuals and ensure smooth tour operations.
  • Verify agent information and tour details.
  • Assist with complaint handling by gathering feedback from suppliers and guides.
  • Identify new venues and activities and advise the team.
  • Take ownership of all tour aspects.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks for the Accounts department.
  • Meet given targets.
  • Proofread marketing materials sent by agents for tour promotion.
  • Verify guides booked for tours.
  • Perform other reasonable work-related assignments.
  • Assist with management and training of junior consultants.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of travel-related programs and quoting systems.
  • Excellent product knowledge of Southern and East Africa.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both internal and external.
  • Professional demeanor with high service levels.
  • Ability to handle pressure and multitask.
  • Negotiation skills for obtaining rates.
  • Familiarity with preferred suppliers and their products.
  • Budget management skills.
  • Attention to detail in booking and managing tours.
  • Problem-solving skills for handling complaints and feedback.
  • Proactive in discovering new venues and activities.
  • Administrative skills for necessary documentation.
  • Proofreading skills for marketing materials.
  • Leadership skills for managing and training junior consultants.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the travel industry.
  • Proven experience in managing tours and travel operations.
  • Experience in handling multiple tasks and working under pressure.
