Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Payroll and Benefits Operations Specialist to join our team in Johannesburg. This role will be responsible for the Rewards and Benefits component of our people strategy, ensuring compliance with all current payroll related legislation.

About the Role

In this key position, you will be accountable for the monthly payroll and related tax processing activities, including expatriates. You will also support the administration of all employee benefits, such as pension fund, short-term insurance, funeral cover, retirement process, and Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Manage internal monthly expatriate postings and reconciliations with general ledger.
  • Ensure creditors are accurately paid on time and reconciled accordingly.
  • Manage the Mid-Year and Year-End Tax Reconciliation and Returns.
  • Ensure monthly back-ups and updates are done timely on the internal HR system (Sage People 300).

This role requires a strong functional knowledge of payroll operations, preferably with experience in SAP accounting exposure and reconciliation of salaries accounts. Proficiency with Sage 300 People is essential, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of best practices around salaries and payroll topics, policies, and procedures is also required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant degree or diploma in HR, payroll, finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in-house payroll operation experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The estimated salary range for this position is R500,000 - R700,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
