Laboratory Specialist for Chemicals and Hygiene Solutions

Our Client, a leading supplier of high-quality Chemicals & Hygiene Solutions in the Durban region, seeks a dedicated Laboratory Specialist to join their team. As a key member of this dynamic organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate laboratory equipment on a daily basis and update calibration records accordingly
  • Conduct routine analyses of incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with set standards
  • Perform final testing of products produced, reporting any variances encountered
  • Enter QC data into designated spreadsheets for accurate tracking
  • Participate in QC testing of toll manufacturing raw material samples and finished Blends
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment adhering to Good Laboratory Practice
  • Schedule external calibrations as per the calibration inventory and perform maintenance tasks
  • Assist in research and development activities to meet customer requirements
  • Take part in stock taking procedures
  • Investigate customer complaints and provide detailed findings
  • Create Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for all manufactured products and update them on the system
  • Send COAs upon request from either the sales department or customers
  • Purchase laboratory reagents required for testing and standardize them
  • Print batch stickers for passed products
  • Fill out batch sheets accurately
  • Arrange for monthly Panoil microbiological testing and analysis, capturing results provided
  • Manage storage and handling of retention samples for finished products and raw materials
  • Send samples for external testing to designated laboratories and capture results
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001:2015 and FSSC 22000 standards
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures as needed
  • Provide training to staff on relevant laboratory department SOPs

Requirements:

  • A Grade 12 certificate
  • A Diploma in analytical chemistry or BSc Chemistry degree
  • 3-5 years of working experience
  • Proficiency in computer software applications

Estimated Salary Range: R250,000 - R400,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is an attractive opportunity for a skilled Laboratory Specialist to grow their career while contributing to the success of our Client's business.
