Job Title: Protection Services Manager Specialised Africa

De Beers Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Protection Services Manager Specialised Africa to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the work of our surveillance team, ensuring the effective implementation of security protocols and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate the work of the surveillance team, ensuring effective liaison with other Protection Services Managers.
  • Schedule work for the surveillance team, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Continuously liaise with the Head of Protection Services to determine priorities and provide feedback.
  • Determine and manage projects to address client needs, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
  • Provide progress reports on surveillance activities and projects to clients, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Monitor security indicators and trends in the organization, identifying surveillance needs and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ensure effective resource allocation to support surveillance activities, minimizing costs and maximizing efficiency.
  • Implement contingency plans to ensure the surveillance team's safety and security, even in adverse conditions.
  • Identify best practices applicable to surveillance, benchmarking other organizations and implementing effective solutions.
  • Verify gathered information for its reliability, ensuring accurate and trustworthy intelligence.
  • Advise management on effective surveillance approaches and technologies, ensuring alignment with security risk management strategies.
  • Manage large surveillance projects involving other security agencies, ensuring effective collaboration and coordination.
  • Ensure surveillance is conducted in line with set procedures and best practices, minimizing risk and maximizing effectiveness.
  • Develop effective relationships with internal and external service suppliers, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Ensure effective communication systems to support investigations, ensuring timely and accurate information exchange.
  • Effective two-way open communication with employees, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure employees work in a safe and productive environment, setting targets for improvements and monitoring progress.
  • Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees, especially in terms of new systems and work practices.
  • Ensure employees have clear work expectations and plans, minimizing confusion and maximizing productivity.
  • Interview potential new recruits, ensuring alignment with company values and security protocols.
  • Hold disciplinary and grievance enquiries, ensuring fair and impartial decision-making.
  • Identify potential conflict situations and minimize implications, ensuring a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding Employee Relations, minimizing conflict and maximizing productivity.
  • Fairly manage cultural diversity, ensuring inclusive and respectful work practices.
  • Identify ideas to increase motivation, ensuring a positive and engaging work environment.
  • Ensure work is fairly allocated, minimizing burnout and maximizing productivity.
  • Ensure competency of employees for the work required, ensuring effective and efficient delivery.
  • Mentor Surveillance personnel within the team towards personal growth, ensuring professional development and advancement.
Qualifications:
  • National Diploma in Security Management or Equivalent.
  • B Tech in Security Management or equivalent NQF level 7 (Degree) qualification will be advantageous.
  • Registered with the PSIRA on grade A.
  • Valid driver's licence code B.
  • CCTV Advanced Surveillance Skills and body language Course.
Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in Security or equivalent environment with exposure in Investigation/Crime Information analysis/Information gathering/and or Surveillance.
  • 5 years' experience in security management.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of strategic and operational planning and management.
  • Competent in functional systems used in the organization.
  • Project management skills.
  • Understanding and recognition of criminal incident behaviour and suspect profiling.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable business communication and business reports writing.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office package).
  • Communications in English (spoken, written and reading).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Presentation and handling of evidence in court/disciplinary hearing.
  • Good working relations.
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Threat and Risk Assessment skills.
  • Crisis Management.
  • Knowledge of security related legislation/policies/procedures/standards and VPSHR.
  • Financial management skills.
  • Statement taking and report writing.
  • Good Communications Skills.
  • Co-ordination Responses to violent crimes.
  • Emergency preparedness and response to various situations.
  • Knowledge in Investigations, Information-gathering and Surveillance.
  • Knowledge of Counter Industrial Action procedures.
  • No criminal record.
  • Pass polygraph test.
  • Protection Services Induction.
  • Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
  • Use of Force Procedure.
  • AAP Rules of engagement.
  • Knowledge of International crime investigation and protection best practices.
  • Negotiation skills.
