Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Branch Manager to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Branch Manager in the planning and management of branch operations and staff.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team to ensure operational requirements are met, while maintaining good customer relations and adhering to company policies and procedures. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all operational processes and procedures are strictly followed.
  • Maintaining good customer relations and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring that the correct quality of metals are purchased.
  • Ensuring records are updated and reconciled accurately for all items purchased and dispatched.
  • Ensuring Company policies and procedures, and health & safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Leading and supervising a team in order to achieve operational requirements.
  • Motivating staff on a continuous basis.
  • Ensuring that assistants thoroughly inspect scrap to be purchased.
  • Ensuring that the requirements of the Second-hand Goods Act are complied with when buying scrap by accurately recording all information required under the Act.
  • Following clear and reasonable instructions from managers.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
  • The ability to work quickly and under pressure.
  • At least 3-5 years applicable managerial experience.
  • A valid driver's license and own reliable transport.

Compensation Package

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • A salary of R250,000 - R350,000 per annum.
  • A provident fund.
  • Medical aid.
  • Life cover at 4x annual salary.
  • Funeral cover.
  • 15 x paid leave days per annum.
  • Long service leave after five years of employment.

Working Hours

The standard working hours for this role are:

Monday – Thursday: 07h30–17h00.

Friday: 07h30–16h00.

Please note that may be required to work overtime as per operational requirements.
