Job Description:

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the effective management of the Payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely monthly payrolls are generated and working closely with HR and other departments to improve payroll processes and provide analysis of corporate payroll-related statistics.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage payroll administration and process improvements
  • Review and process payroll information for accuracy and completeness
  • Calculate and account for payroll components, including Earnings, Employer Contributions, and Statutory and Voluntary deductions
  • Ensure correspondence related to payroll is actioned and filed properly
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, including reconciliation of third-party payments
  • Provide support and guidance to staff and management on payroll matters
  • Interpret awards, agreements, and contracts concerning payroll-related issues
  • Process termination and increase payments, including back pay calculations
  • Produce and distribute accurate payslips
  • Ensure compliance with POPIA and relevant legislation
  • Manage tax directives and IRP5/IT3(A) certificates
  • Report payroll metrics and trends to business stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  2. Minimum 3 years payroll experience, preferably in a large organization
  3. Familiarity with payroll software, such as SAP
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
