Alumni Relations secures and manages the critical relationships with the university’s past students [alumni]. We engage alumni daily with the view of nurturing the relationship to ensure the sustainability of academic, research and other institutional priorities. By putting alumni at the centre of the engagement process, we foster an environment where excellence in student, staff and community engagement success can be accomplished through greater financial [or other] support from the global UWC alumni community.
The successful **Coordinator: Alumni Relations** will position the university, its accomplishments and needs in the minds of the institution’s Alumni in a variety of ways that will primarily focus on stewarding and fundraising. The Coordinator will utilize electronic and print communications local and regional events aligned with divisional and institutional strategic goals, to cultivate Alumni and individuals with the view of securing their financial or other support, executed under the banner of Institutional Advancement.
The position requires proficiency in alumni stakeholder engagement, prospect identification, CRM administration (including prospect and constituent management), data quality, developing decisive reports, as well as having a strong understanding of communication principles, fundraising processes, donor cultivation, and related financial requirements.
**Reporting to the Manager: Alumni Relations, the Coordinator: Alumni Relations will be responsible for**:
- Stewarding existing alumni
- Fundraising from alumni
- Tracking UWC Alumni
- Producing written content for publication on UWC alumni communication platforms
- Tracking and reporting on Alumni Relations’ social media presence
- Maintaining a positive relationship with UWC Alumni Networks
- Overseeing annual alumni campaigns, projects and events
- Promoting faculty engagements to Alumni
- Maintaining Alumni records on DevMan
**Minimum Requirements**
**Minimum Requirements** (Qualification and Experience):
- A relevant bachelor’s degree or an equivalent NQF7 qualification.
- 5 years’ experience in alumni relations/institutional advancement/fundraising. At least 3 years working in higher education.
- **Required competencies** (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Ability to manage short
- and long-term projects,
- Understanding of Alumni Relations,
- Knowledge of the Higher Education environment,
- Strength in building interpersonal relationships,
- Strong persuasion skills,
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends, and travel as required,
- Ability to work independently, and within and across diverse teams,
- Goals driven.-
